A recent article in Maclean’s magazine, “Study finds real women don’t sell,” suggests that although skin care company Dove has been successful in its advertising for real beauty, the rail-thin model motif still has a greater appeal to consumers. Digging deeper into the debate, I find the question of pro-aging over anti-aging and perception of beauty is well debated, but its basis and terms are elusive.
